ICESCO Renews Confidence in Its Director-General and Commends the Egyptian Proposal on Term Duration
Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Chairman of the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture, and President of the General Conference of ICESCO, extends his sincere congratulations and best wishes to Dr. Salem bin Mohammed AlMalik on the occasion of his re-election as Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) for a new term.
The National Commission, under the chairmanship of Dr. Konsowa, expressed its appreciation for the significant achievements and pioneering initiatives realized during his tenure, which have contributed to strengthening the organization’s role and standing in the fields of education, science, and culture across the Islamic world. The Commission also affirmed its confidence in the continued progress and development under his leadership in the coming period.
The Commission further emphasized its pride in the strong and longstanding relations with ICESCO and its commitment to further enhancing joint cooperation in a manner that serves the priorities of education, science, and culture in member states.
The Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO also wished His Excellency continued success in his duties and further achievements in advancing joint Islamic action.
It is worth noting that the Executive Council of ICESCO unanimously recommended the re-election of Dr. Salem bin Mohammed AlMalik as Director-General for a new term, in recognition of the notable achievements and pioneering initiatives accomplished during his leadership, which have reinforced the organization’s role and stature in the fields of education, science, and culture in the Islamic world.
The Executive Council also unanimously approved the proposal submitted by the Arab Republic of Egypt to count an additional two years within the term duration, in light of the exceptional circumstances imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The recommendation will be submitted to the General Conference of the organization for final approval in accordance with established procedures, reflecting the high level of confidence and appreciation his leadership enjoys among member states.
