Under the patronage of Dr. Abdel Aziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Science, Technology and Innovation Funding Authority (STDF) announces the opening of applications for the Flagship Projects Program within the BRICS Science, Technology and Innovation (BRICS STI) Framework for 2026. The program aims to support multilateral research and development projects among BRICS countries and promote innovation to address shared global challenges.
The program represents a strategic step toward supporting joint research projects with broad impact, targeting the development of innovative solutions to global challenges in the fields of Digital Earth, Smart Telescope Networks, and Space Data. This reflects the growing international trend toward integrating research efforts and exchanging expertise among countries to support sustainable development based on knowledge and innovation.
To be eligible, each project must include partners from at least four BRICS countries and comply with the national regulations of each funding agency. Applications must be submitted through the international BRICS platform in addition to the national submission process.
The STDF will support the Egyptian side with funding of up to EGP 15 million per project. The funding period extends for up to three years, with the possibility of extension, providing an appropriate timeframe to achieve effective outcomes.
In this context, Dr. Walaa Sheta, CEO of the Science, Technology and Innovation Funding Authority, stated that the Flagship Projects Program within the BRICS framework represents an important opportunity to strengthen international research cooperation and open new horizons for Egyptian researchers to participate in globally impactful projects, thereby supporting innovation and enhancing Egypt’s position in the fields of science and technology.
The international consortium must submit the Joint Application Form (JAF) no later than June 16, 2026, at 3:00 PM Moscow Time (UTC+3) through the online submission platform:
