Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, inaugurated the 32nd meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) via video conference.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Hany Helal, former Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Ms. Yoko Matsui, Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), in the presence of Dr. Amr Adly, President of the University, at the university’s headquarters in Borg El Arab.

He praised the university’s distinguished achievements throughout its journey.

The Minister reaffirmed the Ministry’s continued support for E-JUST as a successful model of educational and research cooperation between Egypt and Japan, enhancing its position as one of the leading institutions in scientific research and innovation.

He also expressed his appreciation to Hiroshima University for signing a Memorandum of Understanding and an executive agreement with E-JUST to launch a dual master’s degree program in semiconductors, noting that this achievement reflects a shared commitment to preparing highly qualified human resources in one of the most strategically important technological fields.

In this context, the Minister emphasized the importance of extending the benefits of such partnerships to Egypt’s higher education system as a whole, highlighting the need to expand international collaborations with prestigious universities.

He further noted the agreement to establish a Center of Excellence for the Semiconductor Industry at the university in cooperation with Hiroshima University, serving as a leading platform for advanced scientific research, technology development, and capacity building in a sector that is vital for economic growth and technological sovereignty.

The Minister called for studying the establishment of an industrial zone within the university to help transform scientific research outputs into practical applications and industries with economic and developmental returns. Such an initiative would provide a genuine model for integrating scientific research, technology, entrepreneurship, and advanced manufacturing, thereby strengthening Egypt’s position as a regional hub for technology industries and the knowledge-based economy.
