Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, met with Major General Emad Kadwani, Governor of Minya, and Dr. Essam Farahat, President of Minya University, on Tuesday morning at the governorate headquarters, in the presence of a number of executive and public leaders in the governorate.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Minister’s visit to Minya Governorate to inaugurate and inspect several university, healthcare, and service facilities at Minya University.
Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa stated that the Ministry aims to enhance the quality of higher education outcomes and support the advancement of universities in prestigious international rankings. He highlighted the importance of offering dual-degree programs in cooperation with leading international universities to refine students’ expertise, develop their skills, provide a distinguished educational experience, and encourage innovation and creativity.
The Minister also referred to the plan to establish Technology Parks within universities to support innovation and link scientific research with industry. He emphasized the importance of transforming research outputs into practical applications in line with international models, noting that the Ministry is working to create a supportive environment for researchers by providing funding and fostering innovation. He also pointed to the readiness to launch joint initiatives with the Ministry of Communications to support applied projects through competitive mechanisms.
Dr. Konsowa further stressed the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening cooperation and integration between university hospitals and Ministry of Health hospitals to improve the quality of healthcare services provided to citizens and ensure comprehensive medical care.
For his part, Major General Emad Kadwani, Governor of Minya, welcomed the Minister’s visit, affirming that it reflects the state’s commitment to achieving qualitative development in Upper Egypt through enhancing the higher education system and strengthening the role of universities in serving the community—not only academically, but also by improving medical services through advanced healthcare facilities. This, he noted, embodies integration among state institutions to achieve the political leadership’s vision of building a well-rounded society.
The Governor added that Minya University hospitals represent a key pillar in supporting the comprehensive health insurance system, given their qualified medical staff and modern equipment, which contribute to delivering high-quality healthcare services and alleviating burdens on citizens. He emphasized that these efforts enhance the governorate’s readiness for full integration into the system, ensuring safe and adequate healthcare for all citizens.
