Minister of Higher Education Chairs the Private Universities Council Meeting at the Ministry's Headquarters in the New Administrative Capital

Minister of Higher Education Emphasizes:

  • The importance of private universities obtaining institutional and program accreditation.

  • Continuing to develop academic programs in line with labor market needs.

  • Increasing scientific research output and high-impact international publications to enhance the global standing of Egyptian universities.

The Private Universities Council held its meeting under the chairmanship of Prof. Abdelaziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in the presence of Prof. Maher Mesbah, Acting Secretary of the Council, and the Council members, at the Ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Council members extended their sincere congratulations to Prof. Abdelaziz Konsowa on the confidence placed in him by the political leadership through his appointment as Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. They wished him every success in his new role and reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with him to continue advancing Egypt's higher education and scientific research system.

The Council members also expressed their sincere appreciation to Prof. Ayman Ashour, the former Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, for his dedicated efforts in advancing the higher education and research sectors during his tenure, wishing him continued success.

The Council further congratulated Prof. Maher Mesbah on his appointment as Acting Secretary of the Private Universities Council, wishing him success in carrying out his new responsibilities.

In addition, the Council expressed its gratitude to Prof. Abdelwahab Ezzat, the former Secretary of the Private Universities Council, for his valuable contributions during his term of office.

During the meeting, Prof. Abdelaziz Konsowa stressed the importance of private universities obtaining both institutional and program accreditation at the national and international levels to enhance academic and administrative performance. He also emphasized the need to continuously update academic programs in accordance with labor market requirements in order to prepare graduates who are more competitive, improve employability, and equip students with future-ready skills.

The Minister highlighted the importance of strengthening the presence of private universities in national and international academic rankings, noting that such achievements reflect the quality of their educational and research outcomes while enhancing their regional and global reputation.

He also underscored the need to increase scientific research productivity and publish high-impact international research, emphasizing that transforming research outcomes into economically valuable products contributes to supporting the national economy and maximizing returns from innovation and knowledge.

Furthermore, the Minister noted that the Egyptian government places great importance on the internationalization of higher education through strengthening academic and research partnerships with leading international universities and institutions, attracting international students, developing academic programs, and offering dual-degree programs. These efforts, he explained, facilitate knowledge exchange and help prepare graduates capable of meeting the evolving demands of the global labor market.

Prof. Konsowa also emphasized the importance of enhancing the role of private universities in community service and their active participation in national initiatives, reinforcing their developmental and societal contributions.

Prof. Adel Abdel Ghaffar, Media Advisor and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry, stated that the Council approved the establishment of Belbeis University of Technology, a private technological university in Belbeis City, Sharqia Governorate, with the necessary legal procedures to be completed.

He added that the Council also approved the establishment of the Faculty of Smart Business Management Technology at Elsewedy University of Technology, subject to the completion of the required legal procedures.

The Council further approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Egyptian University in Alamein and Brunel University London, United Kingdom.

In addition, the Council approved a cooperation agreement between Horus University and the International Scientific Partnerships Center for German as a Second Language in Münster, Germany.

The Council also endorsed a cultural and scientific cooperation agreement involving New Giza University, the University of Naples Federico II, the Polytechnic University of Bari, EuroMed University of Fes, the Association of Arab Universities, and the Euro-Mediterranean Academic Network of the Union for the Mediterranean.

Furthermore, the Council approved an academic cooperation agreement between Elsewedy University of Technology and the Texas International Education Consortium (TIEC) in the United States.

the Council approved the results of the supplementary examinations in Arabic Language and Religious Education for students enrolled in private universities.
