Dr. Abdel Aziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, chaired the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Universities Support and Development Authority, in the presence of Dr. Essam El-Kurdi, Acting Commissioner for the Universities Support and Development Authority and President of Alamein University; Dr. Maher Mesbah, Secretary of the Council of National Universities and Acting Secretary of the Council of Private Universities; Dr. Khaled El-Drandaly, President of Zagazig University; Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University; Dr. Essam Roshdy, Acting President of Nile National University; Dr. Mohamed El-Sharkawy, Assistant Minister for Policies and Economic Affairs; and members of the Board, at the Private Education Building in New Cairo.
Dr. Abdel Aziz Konsowa affirmed that the Authority represents the investment arm of the Ministry, playing a pivotal role in implementing the state’s policies aimed at providing distinguished educational opportunities and advancing the quality of higher education.
The Minister stressed the importance of intensifying the Authority’s role in supporting universities and strengthening partnership projects between Egyptian universities and their international counterparts, in a manner that contributes to improving the quality of the educational process.
Dr. Konsowa explained that Egypt enjoys a distinguished international position in the field of investment in higher education, noting the growing interest from a number of international universities in establishing partnerships with Egyptian institutions, which reflects the level of international confidence in the Egyptian higher education system.
He further highlighted the importance of managing and investing the assets affiliated with the educational system and creating an attractive and supportive environment for investors in this vital sector, in addition to expanding the provision of consultancy services, studies, and research in the fields of higher education and scientific research.
The Minister added that the Authority’s responsibilities also include providing consultancy services, studies, and research in higher education and scientific research, as well as managing and investing educational assets in a way that contributes to achieving economic returns, while creating a supportive environment for investors in this vital sector.
The Board reviewed a number of services and consultations provided by the Authority in the fields of higher education and scientific research during the recent period.
The Board also reviewed several proposals submitted by different entities for investment in the higher education and scientific research sector, in preparation for studying them and taking the necessary actions.
The Board approved the Authority’s final accounts for the fiscal year 2024/2025.
The Board also approved the Authority’s draft budget for the fiscal year 2026/2027.
In addition, the Board reviewed the Authority’s work plan for the coming period.
