Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, visited on Tuesday morning the campus of Minya Technological University. He was accompanied by Major General Emad Kadwani, Governor of Minya; Dr. Essam Farahat, President of Minya University; Dr. Adel Abdel Ghaffar, Media Advisor and Official Spokesperson of the Ministry; along with a number of governorate and university officials.
During the visit, the Minister inspected the ongoing construction works at the university’s new campus, which is being established on a total area of 1,800 square meters. He praised the progress of implementation, noting that the work is proceeding according to the planned timeline.
Dr. Konsowa emphasized that the establishment of technological universities receives strong support from the political leadership, as they represent a vital educational pathway that helps accommodate the continuous increase in student numbers and prepares qualified technical graduates capable of meeting the needs of local, regional, and international labor markets.
He added that technological universities primarily focus on transferring, applying, and utilizing technology to serve society, equipping students with the necessary technological skills, expertise, and competencies across various specializations. He also noted that these universities offer a wide range of modern academic programs aligned with the needs of industry and society.
For his part, Major General Emad Kadwani affirmed that Minya Technological University represents a valuable addition to the higher education system in the governorate. He noted that the state’s plan to expand the establishment of universities contributes to reducing students’ need to relocate, supports urban development, and provides the human resources required by the governorate. He also reaffirmed the governorate’s commitment to supporting the development of the education system and providing an environment that fosters innovation and academic excellence, preparing students for the labor market.
Dr. Essam Farahat stated that studies at Minya Technological University are scheduled to begin in the 2026/2027 academic year, marking a strong addition to the system of technological universities in Egypt. He explained that this step aims to provide university education that meets labor market needs and supports development priorities, while equipping students with the knowledge and competencies necessary to compete in the job market. It also supports the state’s direction toward positioning Egypt as an attractive destination for international students.
Dr. Adel Abdel Ghaffar, Media Advisor and Official Spokesperson of the Ministry, stated that technological universities are being equipped with the latest educational technologies to ensure the delivery of a modern and distinctive learning experience. He emphasized that diversifying higher education pathways contributes to improving the overall quality of education.
He added that these universities are equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories and workshops and rely on advanced educational systems, offering interdisciplinary programs that prepare students to meet the evolving demands of local and international labor markets. He also praised the high demand from students to enroll in technological universities, reflecting the confidence of students and their families in this educational model.
It is worth noting that the number of technological universities in Egypt has now reached 14, including: New Cairo Technological University, Beni Suef Technological University, Delta Technological University in Quesna, Samannoud Technological University, Taiba Technological University in Luxor, Borg El Arab Technological University, New Assiut Technological University, 6th of October Technological University, East Port Said Technological University, Helwan International Technological University, Fayoum International Technological University, and Assiut International Technological University, in addition to Saxony Egypt University for Applied Sciences and Technology and El Sewedy Technological University.
