The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) announced the inscription of a number of Egyptian heritage sites on the Islamic World Heritage List during the 13th session of the Islamic World Heritage Committee, held in Tashkent, in cooperation with the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture and the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
This recognition comes in appreciation of the efforts of the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture, in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, in preparing and submitting nomination files in accordance with the standards adopted by Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO). It reflects the effectiveness of institutional coordination and further strengthens Egypt’s position in the field of preserving and protecting cultural heritage.
This achievement aligns with the vision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to support cultural identity and enhance the international visibility of Egyptian heritage. It also represents the culmination of the state’s efforts to preserve its cultural and civilizational heritage and promote its presence at the regional and international levels, reflecting Egypt’s unique historical and archaeological assets that span across various eras.
The session resulted in the inscription of the Dendera Temple Complex as one of the most prominent ancient Egyptian temples, due to its archaeological and architectural significance that reflects the development of religious architecture in ancient Egypt. It also included the inscription of the Historic Houses of Rosetta, which represent a unique model of Islamic architecture and reflect the distinctive urban character of the city as well as its historical role during various periods of Egyptian history.
