The Third Conference of Student Union Leaders for Activating Sports Committees officially commenced at Al-Qursh Camp in Ismailia Governorate, taking place from July 6 to 8, under the patronage of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Acting Minister of Culture, and President of the Egyptian Universities Sports Federation, and Mr. Jawhar Nabil, Minister of Youth and Sports.
The conference is held under the supervision of Dr. Karim Hammam, Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Student Activities and Director of the Leadership Development Institute, and Dr. Ahmed Kamel Mahdy, Acting Vice President and Secretary-General of the Egyptian Universities Sports Federation. The event brings together representatives from 26 Egyptian universities and is organized through the joint efforts of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Leadership Development Institute, and Suez Canal University, as part of ongoing efforts to support sports activities and strengthen the role of student unions across Egyptian universities.
The conference aims to prepare and empower a new generation of student leaders capable of organizing and promoting sports activities within Egyptian universities by developing leadership and sports management skills, while fostering teamwork, initiative, and creativity among student union members. These efforts are intended to enhance meaningful student engagement and reinforce the values of positive competition and national belonging.
The conference features a comprehensive program that combines educational seminars, specialized workshops, practical activities, and interactive recreational competitions. The program is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to organize and manage sports events, while contributing to the holistic development of university students and strengthening their leadership and organizational capabilities.
In this context, Dr. Karim Hammam emphasized the importance of student life as a fundamental pillar in shaping the university student's personality, noting that student activities play a vital role in developing leadership and teamwork skills, nurturing talents, and promoting the values of belonging and responsibility. He stressed that these objectives are aligned with the state's vision of preparing a generation capable of innovation, creativity, and active participation in achieving sustainable development.
For his part, Dr. Ahmed Kamel Mahdy stated that the conference serves as a distinguished national platform for developing student sports leaders. He affirmed that the Egyptian Universities Sports Federation is committed to enhancing the conference each year in line with the state's vision of investing in youth and preparing qualified student leaders capable of advancing sports activities across Egyptian universities.
