Agriculture and Water at the Forefront… Higher Education Launches New PRIMA Call to Support Innovation

In line with the directives of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to support the research ecosystem and enhance international cooperation, the Science, Technology and Innovation Funding Authority (STDF) announces the opening of applications for the 9th call of the Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA) program.

The program aims to fund joint research projects in the fields of agriculture and water management through research consortia comprising at least four entities from different countries. This contributes to addressing challenges related to sustainable food production and improving the efficiency of water resource management.

Funding amounts up to €200,000 for the Egyptian participating researcher, and up to €250,000 if serving as the project coordinator, reflecting the state’s commitment to empowering Egyptian researchers and enhancing their international competitiveness.

In this context, Dr. Walaa Sheta, CEO of the Science, Technology and Innovation Funding Authority, emphasized that this call aligns with the Authority’s commitment to supporting applied scientific research and strengthening international partnerships. He noted that the PRIMA program is one of the most significant initiatives linking scientific research to societal challenges in the Mediterranean region, particularly in the areas of food security and water resource management.

He added that the Authority is keen to provide all necessary support to Egyptian researchers to actively participate in such international programs, facilitating knowledge transfer, exchange of expertise, and maximizing the benefits of research outputs.

Pre-proposals will be accepted until May 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM, in accordance with the announced rules and conditions available on the Authority’s website:
