Minister of Higher Education Attends Graduation Ceremony for New Batch from Higher Institute of Engineering at Shorouk Academy

Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, attended the ceremony organized by Shorouk Academy to celebrate the graduation of a new batch from the Higher Institute of Engineering, in honor of Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary General of the Union of Arab Universities and former Minister of Higher Education. The event took place at the British University in Cairo.
During the ceremony, a documentary film was presented, showcasing the history of Shorouk Academy, from its founding to the latest developments in its programs and departments. The film highlighted the strategic vision guiding the academy's educational development.
In his opening remarks, the Minister congratulated all graduates, esteemed professors, and honored researchers, expressing gratitude to Shorouk Academy, the Higher Institute of Engineering, and the parents who supported the students throughout their studies. He wished everyone continued success and encouraged the institute and the academy to continue their journey of contribution and achievement in the future.
Dr. Ayman Ashour noted that celebrating the graduation of a new batch from our universities and institutes is a significant moment, reflecting the meanings of success and achieving one of the key goals for our students: obtaining an academic degree that qualifies them for professional life and realizing their dreams and aspirations. He emphasized that Egyptian society expects these young graduates to actively participate in various national work fields. He urged them to emulate successful role models and to strive for the progress of their country, advising them to keep developing themselves and not to be content with their theoretical and practical knowledge alone.
The Minister emphasized that what graduates have achieved is just the beginning of a long journey of learning and development. The world is changing at an unprecedented rate, and success in the job market now relies not only on academic degrees but also on advanced practical and applied skills. He noted that the global economy is shifting towards valuing skills over degrees and stressed the importance for graduates to continually develop themselves and embrace lifelong learning.
Dr. Ashour acknowledged the significant changes in the job market in recent years, where skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, innovation, and teamwork are highly demanded. He highlighted the crucial role of technology in shaping our future, mentioning that the Fourth Industrial Revolution, increasing reliance on artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and financial technology are integral parts of daily life. He stressed that staying updated with these developments is essential for business success and expressed confidence in the graduates' ability to face future challenges.
The Minister praised Shorouk Academy's efforts to enhance its capabilities and improve the quality of its educational, training, and research processes. He noted that the three institutes within the academy have received accreditation from the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education and are undergoing procedures for international accreditation of their programs. He urged all Egyptian academic institutions to continue working and developing to elevate the level of services they provide to our youth and to achieve further progress in their international competitiveness.
Dr. Ahmed Abdelrahim, Chairman of Shorouk Academy, praised the Minister's efforts since taking responsibility for the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. He highlighted the success in developing the educational process within institutes and universities according to the National Higher Education and Scientific Research Strategy 2030, launched in March 2023. He noted that naming this year's graduating class after Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama is a recognition of his significant national contributions during his tenure as Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Dr. Joudah Ghanem, Vice Chairman of Shorouk Academy, emphasized that celebrating the 29th anniversary of the Higher Institute of Engineering and the graduation of the 25th batch is a culmination of a journey full of achievements. He noted that the institute is one of Egypt's top educational institutions, as recognized by experts and specialists. The institute has achieved the first position in sector evaluations by the Supreme Council of Universities for three consecutive years and has received accreditation from the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education. He also reviewed Shorouk Academy's achievements, including receiving and renewing accreditation, demonstrating the academy's commitment to maintaining its high educational and research standards.
Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama expressed his happiness at being among the graduates and thanked the Higher Institute of Engineering for naming this year's graduating class after him. He highlighted that the ceremony embodies the values of love and loyalty between the academy and its graduates. He emphasized that the engineering profession is one of the noblest professions due to its role in national development and progress. Engineers must uphold responsibility towards their community, embody values and ethics, and continuously develop their skills, including mastering essential skills in artificial intelligence and big data, which are driving industrial and technological advancement.
During the event, the Minister honored winners of the Shorouk Academy Scientific Creativity Awards, outstanding members of the academic staff, former graduates, and top students from various departments.
The graduation ceremony was attended by Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo; Dr. Enas Hafiz, Deputy Governor of South Sinai; Ms. Farida Mohamed Farid Khamis, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the British University in Cairo; Ms. Yasmin Mohamed Farid Khamis, Chair of the Board of Directors of Oriental Weavers Group; Dr. Mohamed Lotfy, President of the British University; Dr. Ahmed Abdelrahim, Chairman of Shorouk Academy; Dr. Joudah Ghanem, Vice Chairman of Shorouk Academy; Dr. Moataz Taleb, Dean of the Higher Institute of Engineering at the academy; and various academic and administrative staff members of the academy, along with public figures.
