On the sidelines of his participation in the "Digital Learning Week 2024" conference in the French capital, Paris Minister of Higher Education meets with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of OpenClassrooms for e-learning
Dr. Ayman Ashour affirms: Integrating e-learning with classroom education has become a necessity
Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, met with Mr. Mathieu Nebra, Chairman of the Board of Directors of OpenClassrooms, and Mr. Guillaume Houzel, Vice President of the institution, one of the leading organizations in the field of e-learning in France. The meeting took place at the Cultural Office in Paris, in the presence of Dr. Shahenda Ezzat, Cultural Attaché and Head of the Educational Mission in Paris.
During the meeting, Dr. Ayman Ashour emphasized that digital learning has become an absolute necessity, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting the importance of integrating electronic curricula alongside classroom teaching.
The Minister welcomed the collaboration with OpenClassrooms for digital learning, confirming Egypt’s eagerness to benefit from the institution’s expertise in information technology, marketing, and electronic curricula.
During the meeting, the Minister also showcased the pioneering experience of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, which is a leader in Africa and the Middle East, providing free access to educational services for students, teachers, and researchers through a wide range of scientific journals, e-books, research theses, and specialized databases. He noted that the Egyptian Knowledge Bank has become a vital resource serving millions of learners, educators, and researchers, and emphasized Egypt’s desire to share the "Egyptian Knowledge Bank" platform with other countries, while continually working on its development due to its significant role in spreading knowledge and supporting educational efforts. He also highlighted the technical solutions that serve the educational process, such as the Learning Management System (LMS), the electronic exam system, the Student Information System, professional services that enhance the global ranking of Egyptian universities, as well as programs of excellence in medical, engineering, and pharmaceutical teaching, international accreditation programs, and more.
For his part, Mr. Mathieu Nebra, Chairman of OpenClassrooms, presented the institution’s role as one of the most important entities in the field of digital learning in France. OpenClassrooms provides more than 600 free courses through its platform, allowing students and learners to benefit from these courses in various fields, such as information technology, artificial intelligence, marketing, education, and other specialties aimed at developing students' skills across all age groups in specialized fields, in addition to retraining and upskilling anyone interested in learning these areas.
He added that OpenClassrooms relies on specialists and experts to design its courses and guide students. The institution also collaborates with a number of French and American universities by offering specialized courses that involve students in projects aimed at developing their abilities and preparing them for the labor market. He noted that the French government has accredited OpenClassrooms, which grants specialized and accredited certificates in various fields. He expressed his eagerness to collaborate with Egypt in the field of digital learning and exchange expertise in this area.
It is worth noting that the "Digital Learning Week 2024" conference aims to highlight the importance of using technology to transform education into an inclusive, efficient, and sustainable system, as well as ensuring access to high-quality digital resources to increase the number of beneficiaries of educational and research services around the world, contributing to improving the quality of educational and research systems in various countries.
