Minister of Higher Education witnesses the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between Al-Ahly Sera Company and the Canadian University of Seneca to establish two branches of Seneca University in Egypt
In implementation of the presidential directives to establish partnerships with prestigious international universities, Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, witnessed the activities of the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between Al-Ahly Sera Company and Seneca University - Canada; to establish two branches of the Canadian University of Seneca in Egypt, in the presence of Prof. David Agnew, President of the University of Seneca - Canada, and Dr. Hassan El-Kalla, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Badr Universities in Cairo and Assiut, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sira Education Company, Mr. Karim Saadeh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Ahly Sera Company for Educational Services, Mr. Mark Scallion, representative of the Canadian Embassy in Cairo, and a number of public figures in Egypt and Canada.
During his speech, the minister welcomed Egypt's guests from Canada, expressing his sincere congratulations to the friendly Egyptian and Canadian peoples and all peoples of the world, on the occasion of the new Gregorian year, hoping that it will be a year of goodness, peace and prosperity for all humanity.
Prof. Ayman Ashour also stressed the interest of the Egyptian state in developing the higher education system through expanding the establishment of universities and non-traditional majors, such as: artificial intelligence and clean energy, noting that there are 3.6 million students, 27 state universities, 27 private universities, 20 public universities, 10 technological universities, and 7 branches of international universities in the New Administrative Capital.
The minister indicated that the axis of internationalization of education is one of the important axes on which the strategy for developing the higher education system, scientific research, technology and innovation in Egypt is based, in order to make the maximum of the advanced international expertise in this vital field of development, pointing out that a number of projects and applied experiences are being implemented with a number of friendly countries, whether at the central level through government and public institutions, or through what is being executed within the framework of cooperation between national academic institutions and their counterparts in a number of friendly countries.
Prof. Ayman Ashour emphasized that one of the most important experiments that were implemented under the direct guidance of the political leadership in this regard was the establishment of a number of branches of prestigious foreign universities in Egypt, within the framework of Law 162 of 2018, pointing out that among these branches are two branches of two prestigious Canadian universities, and the first batch of students was recently graduated.
The minister expressed his happiness at attending the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between Al-Ahly Sera Company for Educational Services and the Canadian University of Seneca, which is one of the largest universities in Canada, targeting the efficiency and quality of graduates, and enabling them to compete for real job opportunities in Egypt and abroad, through the establishment of two branches of Seneca University in Egypt in the field of applied arts and technology, one in eastern Cairo and the other in western Cairo.
At the end of his speech, the Minister thanked the two parties to this partnership, hoping for success and achieving its desired goals, wishing everyone continued success and payment, and the two friendly countries every progress and prosperity.
For his part, Prof. Hassan El-Kalla said that the two branches of Seneca University in Egypt will contribute to providing high-level and high-quality educational services to Egyptian students in various technological disciplines that characterize Seneca University, such as: artificial intelligence, modern engineering, and business management programs in the technology and advanced technology sectors, indicating that this will also contribute to attracting students from Arab and foreign countries, which makes Egypt a prestigious regional and international center, to provide distinguished services in the field of higher education, scientific research, technology and training.
The memorandum of understanding was signed by Prof. David Agnew, President of Seneca University - Canada, and Mr. Karim Saadeh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Ahly Sera Company for Educational Services.
