Minister of Higher Education and President of Alexandria University Inspect New Faculty Complex in Abis
Abdel Ghaffar: Establishment of the new Alexandria University project comes within the framework of the state's interest in upgrading higher education system
Konsowa: The project is implemented according to the highest international quality standards to have a distinguished architectural design
Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, accompanied by Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, inspected construction works for the new buildings of the university faculties in the Abis region, in the presence of Dr. Hisham Gaber, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and Dr. Anwar Ismail, Minister's Assistant for national projects.
Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar emphasized that the establishment of the new Alexandria University project comes within the framework of the state's interest in upgrading higher education system, expanding the establishment of universities, and diversifying educational services provided to students through partnerships with major international universities, making them globally competitive. He stressed the importance of the strategic location of the new complex in terms of its proximity to all services and that it is considered a new extension of the university in a new logistical area in Alexandria Governorate. He also stressed that the establishment of this complex will make a qualitative leap for the university education system within the governorate, by providing new, innovative and non-standard educational programs that keep pace with the local, international and regional labor market.
The President of Alexandria University briefed the Minister of Higher Education on the executive status of the project, the structural and engineering designs of the university and its academic programs. He stressed the importance of expediting the construction and implementation steps of the project in accordance with the highest international quality standards in order to have a distinct architectural design that keeps pace with the industrial revolution, and to ensure sustainability of providing the best level of educational service with a view to graduating and preparing cadres specialized in modern scientific and technological fields. The new faculty complex is meant to be smart and green campus.
The visit comprised a video presentation by Engineer Mohamed Nasr, the project consultant, on the structural and engineering designs of the university and the plan of the new complex that includes the Alexandria University Conference Center and 16 buildings, a solar energy center, central libraries, annual and main classrooms, a museum, an integrated medical center, research centers, an academy for innovators, a center for innovation and entrepreneurship, sewage treatment plants to relieve pressure on sewage networks, university schools supervised by the university and a sports complex.
