Minister of Higher Education Lays Foundation Stone for Helwan Community University
Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, laid the foundation stone for Helwan Community University on Saturday, February 20, in the presence of Dr. Maged Negm, President of Helwan University, and presidents of state universities.
The minister stated that the political leadership attaches great importance to increasing the number of universities and institutes to meet the increased demand for higher education over the coming period, which explains the increase in the number of state, private, community, and technological universities and institutes that have been established over the last period.
Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar stressed that President Abdel Fattah Elsisi, President of the Republic, has directed that 15 community universities should be established within a year, as these projects are among the major national projects adopted by the state to achieve the sustainable development plan, Egypt Vision 2030.
The Minister thanked the President of the Republic for his tremendous support for higher education and scientific research, and for his vision to make a qualitative leap in this field by entering into partnerships with major foreign universities.
The Minister also thanked the Armed Forces Engineering Authority for its incessant contribution by supporting higher education and scientific research projects.
He commended the academic programs adopted by the new Helwan Community University in the field of medicine, engineering, arts and others, pointing out that
the academic programs will meet the requirements of the local, regional and global labor market.
On his part, Dr. Maged Negm confirmed that Helwan Community University will be established on an area of 54 acres within the university, and it will offer many modern academic programs in the fields of medicine, engineering and arts. The university will include a building for the university administration, a building for entrepreneurship and innovation, a library, an administrative affairs building, an academic building, a building for laboratories, a female students' hostel, a male students' hostel, a recreational and sports area, an academic arena, as well as faculties' buildings.
